Since 1959, the Opp Jaycees have attracted
the attention of local and international visitors,
as well as the media, with its annual Rattlesnake
Rodeo. Last year, over 30,000 attended the
event, which is held to raise funds for local

Conecuh
National Forest
Located on the Florida border just south of
Andalusia, the Conecuh National Forest is
comprised of 83,861 acres. The Conecuh offers
its visitors two delightful recreational opportunities
- Open Pond Recreational Area and the Conecuh
Recreation Trail.

Frank
Jackson
Take in the wilderness scenes while reeling
in the day's catch. Surrounding Lake Frank
Jackson, just one mile from downtown Opp,
is Frank Jackson State Park. Of the park's
2,050-acres, 1,000 are covered by the lake.
The lake is specially stocked and managed
for prime freshwater fishing. Bass, bream,
crappie, and catfish are abundant. Each April
anglers converge on the park for a bass fishing
tournament. Boat launch ramps and a grassy
beach provide water access for boaters, canoe
paddlers, and swimmers. Trails covering two
miles cross the park for hikers and birdwatchers
to explore the wildlife of the area. There
is a playground and picnic area along the
lake, and 32 fully equipped lakefront campsites.

Florala
A pristine lake is the center of attention
at this recreation facility. The town of Florala,
aptly named for its position on the Florida-Alabama
border, is home to Florala State Park. The
40-acre park lies along beautiful Lake Jackson.
Considered one of the cleanest and clearest
bodies of water in the state, the lake supports
fishing, boating, swimming, and water-skiing.
A boat launch and piers provide access to
the water for fishermen hoping to capture
the bass. A recently upgraded RV park offers
full hook-ups, while a 30 site tent camp and
primitive sites are available for those without
vehicles. Picnic areas lie along the beaches,
a playground sits beside the picnic tables,
and an adjacent community building provides
indoor meeting spaces. For more information

World
Championship Domino Tournament, Andalusia.
Sponsored by the Andalusia Rotary Club, the
tournament boasts over $20,000 in prize money.
Both singles and doubles tournaments are held
each year. There are also children and teen
divisions.

Three Notch
Museum, Andalusia.
The museum is located in the old Central of
Georgia Depot. The depot, which was built
in 1899, is the oldest and only wooden commercial
building left in downtown Andalusia. The museum
complex, which includes the depot, three railroad
cars, a country store, and a log cabin, houses
railroad memorabilia, farm implements, historical
items, and period merchandise. The structure
is listed on the National Register of Historic

The Central of Georgia Depot,
constructed in 1899, is the oldest and only
wooden commercial building remaining in downtown
Andalusia. The board-and-batten structure
features two waiting rooms, the ticket agent's
office, and a baggage area. Most of the original
design has been preserved to maintain its
historical character. The building was restored
by the Covington Historical Society to exhibit
articles of historical significance.
The Central of Georgia Depot was named to
the National Register of Historic Places on
August 30, 1984.
The Three Notch Museum features permanent
and rotating displays of: Railroad Memorabilia,
Old Photographs, Handmade Lace and Linens,
Depression Glass, Hand woven baskets, Farm
Implements, Memorabilia of life in rural South
Alabama, Items depicting the histories of
local businesses, and Political Memorabilia.
2,700-acre Gantt Lake and the
700-acre Point A Lake offer
fishing, boating and water sports, and Point
A Park has camping and picnicking facilities.
On the Campus of LBW College
in Andalusia, golfers enjoy playing the nine
-hole public golf course, and walkers stroll
along the beautiful nature trail, a walker's
paradise.

During the rest of the year the best time
to see them is at dawn or dusk. The Red Cockaded
Woodpecker cavities have been known to house
flying squirrel, red bellied, red headed and
pilated woodpeckers, great crested fly catchers
and Eastern bluebirds.(Stop by the Ranger

Festival on The River,
Geneva.
Features a parade, entertainment, arts and
crafts, commericial displays, and a canoe

Pike Pioneer Museum, Troy.
The museum, which includes 15 acres of wooded
land, offers the visitor a chance to see the
way 19th century pioneers lived. Also on the
grounds are a tenant house, log cabin, privy,
windmill, well, a print shop, and general

Piney Woods Arts Festival,

Blue
Springs
Dive into the refreshing and relaxing waters.
A crystal-clear spring-fed swimming pool is
the highlight of this 103-acre state park in
southeast Barbour County outside Clio. A recently
improved camping facility includes 50 sites
with water and electricity, seven sites with
full hookups and numerous primitive sites. After
swimming, campers may pan fish in the Choctawatchee
River, rent a paddle boat for river exploration,
or play tennis on the park courts. A picnic
area with pavilions, tables, grills, a playground
and comfort stations is adjacent to the campground.

This seasonal attraction is open Thanksgiving
Day through New Year's Eve. A three-and-one-half

The Claybank Jamboree, named after the log-hewned
